25 suspected dengue cases at PGI
Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) The number of suspected dengue cases at the PGIMER here has risen to 25 from 11 yesterday.
Six patients out of these have been confirmed as positive cases and are currently admitted in the hospital, a PGIMER release today stated.
Five patients who tested negative for dengue were discharged today. The patients from Punjab admitted at the PGI are from Mohali, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Ropar. Three patients are from Chandigarh, while from Haryana, the patients are from Yamunanagar and Panchkula.
Two patients developed minor episodes of bleeding today and were administered platelet transfusion.
The release further said that since the disease had not yet reached epidemic proportion, everyone was requested not to believe in rumours and not to rush to the hospital at slightest evidence of fever. Initial examination and investigations can easily be carried out by any competent qualified physician/laboratory.
The patients should report to the hospitals only in case of overt bleeding or a significantly low platelet count (less than 50,000), the release added. Personal precautions like staying fully covered when moving outside or even at home prevents mosquito bites.
