219 sportspersons to be honoured by Guj govt

Gandhinagar, Oct 3 (UNI) The Gujarat government today said it will honour 219 sportsmen with awards and certificates for achieving excellence in their fields.

At least four will be given the Eklavya senior award that carries a cash reward of Rs one lakh, while another 20 will be awarded the Sardar Patel Junior award of Rs 25,000.

While eight sportspersons will be awarded the Jaydeep Singh Senior award and another seven in the junior category. These awards carry cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000.

Another 180 sportsmen will be given certificates for their contribution to sports. a official statement said.
