Scotland have defensive worries ahead of France match
GLASGOW, Oct 3 (Reuters) Scotland could be without three defenders for Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier at home to World Cup runners-up France, manager Walter Smith said today.
Reading's Graeme Murty is definitely out with a hamstring injury.
Kevin McNaughton of Cardiff City is doubtful with a similar problem while Aberdeen's Russell Anderson is struggling with a hip injury.
Smith told reporters that defender David Weir and striker James McFadden would join the squad after playing in a reserve game for Everton later today.
Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon is looking forward to the challenge of playing against a strong French team which is likely to include Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
''We know it is going to be exceptionally difficult but we have pulled off great results at Hampden Park in the past,'' said Gordon.
''It is up to us to stop them. I am looking forward to facing him (Henry) but hopefully the boys in front of me can stop him getting too close.'' REUTERS AB BST1959
