Puducherry bags gold in Junior Nationals tug of war

Puducherry, Oct 3(UNI) Hosts Puducherry scored a double when its girls and boys bagged the gold in the catch weight event of the Junior National Tug of War Championships here today.

While Puducherry girls beat Tamil Nadu 2-1 to bag the gold, the boys outplayed Uttar Pradesh 2-0 to annexe the top position. Tamil Nadu girls beat Kerala 3-0 for the silver and Kerala girls bagged the bronze. In the boys event Uttar Pradesh bagged the silver and Andhra Pradesh the bronze medals.

In the boys 560-kg event, Manipur set the stage for a title clash with Haryana tomorrow. In the semi-finals they beat UP 2-0 and Haryana trounced Mizoram 2-1.

In the 560-kg mixed event Delhi will clash with Punjab for the top position tomorrow.

In the semi-finals played here today Delhi beat Maharashtra 2-1, while Punjab beat Karnataka 2-0.
