GM India sales up by 9 pc in Sep; Tavera all-time high at 2222 units

Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) General Motors India has sold 3506 units in September 2006, as against 3220 cars in the same month last year, to record a growth of nine per cent in monthly sales.

The September 2006 sales comprise of 2222 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 421 units of Chevrolet Optra and 863 units of Chevrolet Aveo, a company's release isued here today said.

Chevrolet Tavera achieved a landmark by clocking the highest ever monthly sales of 2222 units marking a 39 per cent year on year (YOY) growth over September 2005 where it sold 1600 units.

Gearing up for a major ramp up, General Motors India's Halol facility in Gujarat is undergoing an expansion drive to enhance its capacity to 85,000 units by the end of this year to cater to the increased market demand for Chevrolet brand of vehicles.

GM India is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation.

Besides the Chevrolet Optra, GM India manufactures the Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet SRV and Chevrolet Aveo at its state-of-the-art facility in Halol, Gujarat.
