Randhawa signs off tied 17th at WGC American Express Championship
Hertfordshire, England, Oct 2 (UNI) Jyoti Randhawa returned a two-under 69 card in the final round to finish a creditable tied 17th even as Tiger Woods roared back to form after the Ryder Cup debacle to cruise to a comfortable eight shot victory in the 75,00,000 dollar World Golf Championships -- American Express Championship here.
Randhawa sank in three birdies against a lone bogey on the final day to finish with a total of seven-under 277 in the tournament.
The Indian had a quiet start and fired his first birdie on the ninth to make the turn at one-under. In his backward journey, Randhawa dropped a bogey on the 14th before recovering with birdies on the 15th and 18th to make a decent finish in the Championship.
Meanwhile, the weather caused a cessation of play in the final round, which lasted two hours and 46 minutes, but the delay had no impact on World Number One Woods, as he claimed his fifth victory in the tournament itself and an incredible 12th in the last 22 official WGC events.
However, Woods matched his worst round of the week, a four-under 67 for a 23-under 261 total but it was still good enough for the American to win the title ahead of his closest pursuer England's Ian Poulter (66) and Adam Scott (69) of Australia who were tied for the second spot with 15-under 269.
