Notices sent to 10 hospitals for unhygienic conditions
New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) With threat of dengue assuming serious proportions with a sharp increase in the number of cases in the capital last week, about ten hospitals in Delhi, including many Government hospitals, have been issued notices by the MCD for unhygienic conditions on their premises.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has, over the last week, 'challanned' about ten hospitals, including Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, the ESI hospital, Modi Hospital and the Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital for not doing enough to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes on their premises, MCD health officer M K Yadav said.
Most of these hospitals were challened after MCD officials, during an inspection, found stagnant water on their campuses.
''The hospitals have been asked to make efforts to curb growth on their premises of possible breeding for mosquitoes,''Mr Yadav said.
The hospitals which have been sent notices include two private hospitals while the rest are government hospitals, he said.
The Capital is under the grip of deadly dengue, with more than 100 cases added in the last one week itself.
Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri yesterday said 448 cases of dengue had been reported, of which 247 were from Delhi, 118 from Uttar Pradesh and 40 from Haryana.
Last Sunday the reported figure was 327, which rose to 448, registering an increase of 121 in just one week.
At the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a student died on Saturday due to the viral fever, while 35 dengue patients have been admitted there, including 18 resident doctors, students and nurses from the institute.
