Mankad replaces Sandhu as new coach of Baroda Ranji team

Vadodara, Oct 2 (UNI) Former Mumbai coach Ashok Mankad was today named as the new coach of the Baroda Ranji team for a two-year term.

The appointment of Mankad was approved by the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) of Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) which met here today under the chairmanship of Samarjitsinh Gaekwad.

Talking to UNI after the meeting, BCA vice-president Gunavant Oza said Mankad would formally take over the charge at the BCA office at the Motibaug ground here tomorrow and meet the Ranji probables.

Mankad, who had served Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Air India for about 15 years as a coach, replaces Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who had shifted to Madhya Pradesh for the coming Ranji season after completing his two years term in BCA, Oza said.
