Green Bulidings Congress '06 at Bangalore from October 12

New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) In an attempt to promote the Green Buildings sector in India, which is expected to become a Rs 2,000 crore industry by 2008, CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre will organise the fourth edition of Green Building Congress at Bangalore during October 12-15.

The main objectives of organising Green Building Congress 2006 are to create awareness on the concept, promote business opportunities for Green building products and technologies, sensitise government and facilitate market transformation.

The event will feature a two-day International Conference, four-day exhibition and an exclusive one-day seminar on Green Homes.

Some of the building materials and products that will be on display are eco-friendly carpets and paints, energy efficient chillers, day lighting, energy efficient windows, lighting systems, high-performance glass, eco-panels, solar systems, eco-friendly housekeeping chemicals, building management systems and water treatment systems.

The International Conference, to be inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on October 13, will seek participation from leading experts from India and abroad like Mr James Hartzfeld and Mr Sandy Wiggins, US Green Building Council; Mr Ronji Borooah, Young + Wright Architects, Canada; Mr Sharukh Mistry, Mistry Associates; Mr Karan Grover, KGA Associates; Mr Prashant Bhat, Landscape Company; Mr Werner Jager, Hydro Building Systems, Germany and Mr Don Anderson, ICF Consulting, US.

The exclusive seminar on 'Green Homes' will be held on October 15 and will be attended by over 500 participants comprising architects, builders, interior designers, corporates and government officials involved in Green Buildings.

The environment-friendly construction concept began with 20,000 sq ft of green footprint in the country in the year 2003 and is expected to achieve a staggering 10 million sq ft by the end of 2008, opening up a plethora of opportunities for stakeholders like construction industry, architects, builders, material and equipment manufacturers.
