Spaniard on hunger strike hospitalised
Jaipur, Oct 1: Spaniard Juan Manuel Rojas who had been observing a fast in the holy town in Pushkar was taken to a hospital on the fifth day of his hunger strike, after he complained of lethargy.
The local authorities intervened after all efforts to persuade him to end the fast went in vain. On advice of the doctors and the Spanish Embassy in Delhi, Rojas was shifted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer. The local authorities have referred the matter to the state government.
Rojas has been on hunger strike demanding a piece of land registered in the name of an NGO he mooted recently. Rojas had been training local youths in football for the last five years in the holy city along with his friend Antonio. They wanted to set up a football academy in a piece of land he purchased in Dev Nagar area of the city. However his efforts encountered hurdles with the district administraion turning down his demand on the protest that no forigner could own land in the country.
