Singapore Govt for Consulate upgradation in city

Chennai, Oct 1 (UNI) The Singapore Government was taking all efforts for the upgradation of existing Consulate at the level of Consulate General shortly, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Government of Singapore, Balaji Sadasivam said today.

Talking to newspersons here, after meeting the Tamil Nadu Rural Development and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin, Mr Sadasivam said, efforts would be made to introduce direct flight service between Singapore and Coimbatore and also to other important cities in Tamil Nadu.

He said the country's investment in Software Industry in Tamil Nadu was already in peak and steps would be taken to increase the investment further. The economic relations between Singapore and Tamil Nadu was cordial, he added.

Mr Sadasivam discussed various subjects with Mr Stalin, including increase in economic and trade relationship between Singapore and Tamil Nadu and also for the establishment of Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
