Major transfers and promotions in J

Srinagar, Oct 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet has effected major promotions and transfers in the state administration, an official spokesman said today.

The Cabinet, which met here last evening with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the chair, accorded sanction to the placement of three Superintending Engineers of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department -- Iftikhar Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad Shah and Mir Shafi Ahmad -- as in-charge Chief Engineers in their own pay and grade against available vacancies.

Consequently, Iftikhar Ahmad has been posted as J&K Housing Board Managing Director, Nazir Ahmad Shah as Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir; and Mir Shafi Ahmad as JDC (Works)/ex-officio Chief Engineer, Mughal Road Project.

The Cabinet also accorded sanction to the placement of Dr Suresh Chander Gupta and Dr Surinder Prakash Sharma, Joint Directors of the Animal Husbandry Department as Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu and Kashmir divisions respectively in their own pay and grade.

Mr Showkat Rashid Wani's appointment has been confirmed as Development Commissioner (Power) and the conferment of the pay scale of Rs 16,400-20,000 from the date he assumed charge.

The Cabinet also revived the post of J&K State Power Development Corporation Executive Director in the pay scale of Rs 16400-20000 and placement of Mr V K Malhotra, Chief Engineer (Planning and Design Wing) as in-charge Executive Director, J&K State Power Development Corporation.

Mr Masood Ahmad Dar, in-charge Chief Engineer (System and Operations), Jammu and Mr R K Seli, in-charge Chief Engineer, Generation (PDC) would exchange posts.

Mr Shamsher Singh, in-charge Superintending Engineer (S&O Circle-I) will be in-charge Chief Engineer (Planning and Design) and Mr Dharam Vir, in-charge Superintending Engineer (Inspection-Circle) would in-charge Chief Engineer (Procurement and MM), relieving Mr Malhotra of the additional charge.

The Cabinet also approved the promotion of Mr T Angchok, Joint Director Fisheries, as Director Fisheries in the pay scale of Rs 14300-18300 with effect from October 1.

It also decided to appoint all remaining Junior Engineers selected by the District Level Committees on a contractual basis and their orders of appointments will be issued within a week's time.

The Cabinet noted with satisfaction that 976 Junior Engineers in various engineering departments have been appointed on a contractual basis as per the decision taken in its meeting on June 24.

It also accorded sanction to the renaming of the Government Degree College, Badgam as Sheikh-ul-Aalam Memorial Degree College, Government Degree College, Reasi as General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Government Degree College, Leh as Eliezer Jolden Memorial College, Government Degree College, Hiranagar as Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College and Government Degree College, Bandipore as Hassan Khoyihami Memorial Degree College.

The Cabinet also approved the renaming of Tankipora Road, Srinagar as Mehjoor Road and modification of the Market Intervention Scheme for 2006-07 to the extent of enhancement of procurement rate from Rs 4 to Rs 5 per kg for c-grade apples and sandy pears.
