Japan's Mitsubishi to expand operations in India

New Delhi, Oct 1: Japan's leading general trading company Mitsubishi Corporation will enhance its presence in India by foraying into research and development activities and human resource development businesses, besides expanding its present food distribution network.

''We have 10 warehouses and seek to expand. We would like to strengthen and expand distribution activities,'' Mitsubishi Corporation Chairman and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Special Advisor Mikio Sasaki said.

Mitsubishi will join the research and development activities in technology and human resource nurturing in collaboration with Indian companies, he added.

The company is engaged with Indian Railway and Delhi Metro to provide infrastructure, besides distribution of frozen food items like fruits, vegetables and ice creams.

It will also offer steel and chemical products to the Indian markets. ''We will offer chemical products we buy from West Asia to India.'' With over 200 bases of operations in about 80 countries worldwide, the company is present in India for the last 50 years.
