Hero Honda sales increase 13.34% in Sep inspite of 'shradh'
New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Leading two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda Motors Ltd today announced a 13.34 per cent increase in sales at 3,01,577 units in September as against 2,66,071 units during the corresponding month previous year.
The company's cumulative sales for the period April-September 2006 have also jumped to 15,84,659 units, a growth of 10.8 per cent over cumulative sales for the same period last year. Hero Honda had sold 14,29,992 motorcycles during April-September 2005.
''The increase is in spite of the 15-day long 'shradh' period during the month, which usually witnesses a fall in sales across the industry,'' a company statement said.
During the month, the company, one of the global partners of ICC, launched the 'Hero for Heroes' campaign, coinciding with the peaking cricket season.
It also announced cricketers Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina as its new brand ambassadors, adding to the existing line-up of Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Rohan Gavaskar.
The company has launched its festive gift initiative 'Mobike Pe Mobile', which offers a mobile package including a Motorola handset, free talk time of Rs 2,000 and SMS of Rs 1,000 with purchase of every Hero Honda bike.
Lucky customers can also win complimentary tickets to the ICC Champions Trophy, to be played in the country from October 7.
