Govt will set up college for Muslim women: Rangasamy

Puducherry, Oct 1 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration will set up a college exclusively for Muslim women at Sultanpet near here, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said today.

Inaugurating a community centre of the Pondicherry Wakf Board here, Mr Rangasamy urged the Wakf Board to introduce a career guidance programme for plus two students from Muslim community.

Stating that the Puducherry administration had set up an IAS coaching center, the Chief Minister appealed to the student community to come forward to pursue a career in the Administrative Service.

He said the administration was committed to welfare of all sections in the society including the minorities for which several welfare schemes were introduced.

He said a survey on the property of the Wakf Board would be undertaken soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan said a sum of Rs 220 crore had been allotted for education of poor students.

They would also be provided assistance through the centralised admission committee to pursue professional courses.

The Minister said the muslim students would get concessions from the government.

Puducherry District Collector Theva Neethi Das and local MLA N Anand were also present on the occasion.
