Farmers dues within a fortnight: Co-operatives Minister

Jaipur, Oct 1 (UNI) Rajasthan Co-operatives Minister Madan Dilawar today announced that the outstanding dues of the farmers, from whom mustard was procured last year, would be disbursed within a fortnight.

The minister made the assurance to Bharatiya Kisan Sangh state president Sangram Singh, who called on him here.

Noting that the total outstanding dues of the farmers were to the tune of Rs 135 crore, he said the Centre has, in principle, agreed to release the dues of the farmers.

''In case, there was any delay from the Centre in releasing the money, the state government would make alternative arragements and disburse the money to the farmers within a fortnight,'' Mr Dilawar added.

The delay in the disbursal of the dues had caused widespread discontentment among the farmers in the Sriganganagar district, who had agitating for the clearance of their dues for quite some time now.
