Chopra shoots up to tied 3rd, Atwal to tied 40th
Madison, Mississipi, Oct 1 (UNI) Daniel Chopra sizzled with a blemish free four-under 68 to move into the tied third place while Arjun Atwal played an identical card to shoot up to the tied 40th spot on the penultimate day of the three million dollar Southern Farm Bureau Classic golf championships here.
Indo-Swede Chopra aggregates nine-under 207 is just three strokes off the leader, D J Trahan who carded one-under 71 to maintain a slender lead over two time US Open Champion Lee Janzen.
Overnight tied 10th, Chopra fired a pair of birdies on the either side of the turn. He gained consecutive strokes on the fourth and the fifth holes. As soon as he made the turn, he gained another on the 10th and then signed off in style with a birdie on the last.
A tenth tee starter, Atwal was out to make amends for his horrendous four over 76 card yesterday which saw him slipping to tied 70th . He played cautiously on his back nine and opened his account only on 18th hole with a birdie. He gained another stroke just after making a turn.
Consecutive birdies on the fifth and sixth were followed by gaining one more stroke on the eighth. However, his party was slightly marred with a bogey on the last hole.
