BCCI to shoot first class domestic matches on video

Rajkot, Oct 1 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) General Secretary Niranjan Shah today said that BCCI has decided to film all first class domestic matches from the coming season.

Talking to mediapersons here today, organised by the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA), Mr Shah said the present system of assessing the umpires is purely based on the points given to their performance at the end of each match by the winning team's captain who gives top marks to the umpires, while the losing team's captain rate them poorly.

A special committee, formed to assess the umpires, has recommended that ''We should video shoot all the matches to help them in grading the umpires and recommending suitable ones to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) panel,'' he added.

To a question, Mr Shah replied the BCCI had not enforced any ban on foreign players turning out in the Indian domestic cricket.

The get-to-gether function was organised by SCA for mediapersons, as the SCA secretary Niranjan Shah was re-elected unopposed as General Secretary of the BCCI for a two-year term at the 77th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai recently.
