11-ft Golden Chariot for Iyeeppaswamy temple inaugurated
Chennai, Oct 1 (UNI) A eleven-foot Golden Chariot for Sri Iyeeppaswamy temple at Raja Annamalaipuram, was inaugurated in the presence of President of the Temple Trust, Industrialist and Rajya Sabha Member M A M Ramasamy, here today.
The urchava deity of Lord Iyeeppa was taken in a procession on the Golden Chariot around the temple corridors, which was pulled out by a large gathering of devotees by chanting ''Swamiye Saranam Iyeppa''.
Temple Trust Secretary K R Ramasamy said the Chariot was made at a cost of Rs 40 lakh with three kg of gold, 200 kg of copper and other materials.
The chariot, weighing about one tonne, was covered with copper and gold coating was made over that, he added.
Earlier special poojas were organised to both the presiding and urchava deities of Lord Iyeeppan and other Sannidhis in connection with the inauguration of Golden Chariot.
