VHP condemns Azad, Mehbooba for seeking pardon for Afzal

Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) general secretary Venkatesh Abdeo today condemned Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for seeking pardon for Afzal Guru sentenced to death for his involvement in terrorist attack on Parliament.

In a statement here, Prof Abdeo said, ''With this action, both Azad and Mufti have openly come out in support of anti-Indian Islamic terrorists,'' he said and demanded to know why the two Kashmiri leaders were sympathetic to a terrorist.

''The demand for a pardon for a terrorist who is involved in attack on the Parliament itself amounts to an act against the interests of the country. It also amounts to contempt of the Supreme Court,'' he added.
