Andaman to host 19th All India Raj Bhasha Sammelan
Port Blair, Sep 30 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar islands is all set to host the 19th All India Raj Bhasha Sammelan here from October 2, under the aegis of Rashtriya Hindi Academy to commemorate the 137th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The sammelan would include nine sessions during which various facets of development of Hindi and other Indian languages would be deliberated.
Besides, there would be an exhibition of a photo on information technology, Chairman of the Academy Swadesh Bharti said.
Mr Bharati expressed his displeasure about the manner in which Hindi is being dealt with and said efforts are required to create greater awareness among the people about the status of our national language.
''Hindi deserves to be accorded as a Raj Bhasha in our country,'' he stressed.
Three prominent citizens of the islands, Shri Gorakh Nath Pandey, Dr Umesh Prasad and Shri Gouri Shankar Pandey would be felicitated by the Academy on this day, he said.
Mr Bharati told mediapersons here the conference would be inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Governor Lt Gen K M Seth and Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibte Razi.
Besides a few cabinet ministers, some eminent writers, CEO's of some PSU's would be special invitees to the three day event.
