Sania's victory run ends, crash out of Korea Open

Seoul, Sep 29: Luck deserted Sania Mirza when she needed it most and her victory run came to an abrupt end as she went down fighting to Spain's Virginia Ruano Pascual in three sets in the quarterfinals of the 145,000 US Dollar Korean Open tennis here today.

The 19-year-old Hyderabad-based player, displayed dogged determination in the three-set encounter, but some unforced errors at crucial moments cost her the match.

The Indian teenager, who had shocked top seed Martina Hingis in the second round, lost the first and the third set in tie breaks, while winning the second easily.

Pascual, doubles specialist, survived anxious moments in the first and crucial third set to emerge 7-6 4-6 7-6 winner.
