Police arrest 80 Bangladeshis in Nagpur
Nagpur, Sep 29 (UNI) Around 80 Bangladeshis including 23 women and 8 children staying illegally in the city since last two to eight years were today arrested in the raids conducted on slums at various places in Nagpur.
City police Commissioner S P S Yadav told media persons that some of the Bangladeshis who had fled away to Gondia along with their families to avoid the arrest were, also nabbed and being brought to Nagpur for interrogation. During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that all the Bangadeshis had entered the country from the Baira and Malada borders of Bangladesh via Kolkata directly into Nagpur.
Their major objective was to find employment and many of them were working as labourers and their wives as maid servants to earn the livelihood. They had been staying illegally without having any documents, passports, ration cards, driving licence and immigration certificates, he said.
Mr Yadav said the police was investigating whether they have any connection with terrorists activities or indulged in spreading communcal riots. However, no clue to this effect was found from them, he added.
All those arrested would be produced before the court tomorrow.
