Pak and Afghan agree on joint action against terrorists
Washington, Sep 29: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai have agreed to meet at least thrice in an attempt to end violence in the region arising out increased Taliban activities.
''Both the leaders will attend two gatherings of tribal elders, one on each side of the border,'' the Washington Times today quoted Afghan Ambassador Said T. Jawad as saying.
Mr Jawad, who described their willingness to talk as ''crucial'', said both Presidents are likely to meet for the third time in Islamabad.
Referring to the dinner hosted by US President George W Bush on Wednesday, which was attended by both the visiting dignitaries, Mr Jawad said President Bush ''played a very constructive role in emphasising that cooperation will benefit Afghanistan, Pakistan and global security''.
''It is an important achievement. The result will depend on how these decisions are implemented,'' he added.
