No relief in SC ruling: BJP
New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) Claiming that the Supreme Court directions did not provide any relief, the Opposition BJP in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today alleged that lethargic, unclear and errant policies of the Congress Government had put under purview of sealing order lakhs of traders who were hitherto out of it.
''As per the directions of the Supreme Court today, lakhs of traders who were so far out of the legal process have also been brought under its ambit as the apex court has imposed the condition of filing affidavit as well as certificate of registered architect for shopkeepers carrying on their trade at 2183 roads notified by the Delhi government in its September 15 notification,''Leader of the Opposition in the MCD House Subhash Arya and member Standing Commitee, Vijender Gupta told reporters here.
''The order also puts into jeopardy those 40,000 traders and shopkeepers who have earlier submitted their affidavits,''they said.
Mr Arya and Mr Gupta said today's court directions showed that the notification issued by the Delhi Government was not foolproof.
''By dint of these notifications, the traders will get temporary relief, but at the same time they will have file affidavit and certificate from the registered architect.
Besides, their registration will also be done by the Monitoring Committee appointed by the Supreme Court,'' Mr Gupta said.
In this context, the BJP leaders demanded immediate implementation of the Master Plan 2021 and the amnesty scheme devised by the previous NDA Government to provide relief to traders who had set up shop before December 31, 2005.
They also demanded that a meeting of the Standing Committee and MCD house be called immediately to deliberate on this sensitive issue.
Meanwhile, a delegation of traders, under the aegis of the Confederation of All India Traders, today met Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and demanded a regularisation of all business establishments in Delhi as on December 31, 2005, irrespective of the colony categorisation.
The traders also demanded that keeping in view the larger interest of the business community and citizens of Delhi, the Government should expedite notification of the Master Plan 2021 so that futuristic view of planning and development can take place.
They have demanded that in order to protect traders from sealing, the Government should not hesitate to bring even an ordinance or Constitutional Amendment in Parliament.
In the meantime, the traders have decided to go ahead with their anti-sealing movement. The trade associations will burn effigy of sealing on October 1 at various places of Delhi.
