HC orders revocation of suspension of JIPMER employees
Chennai, Sept 29 (UNI) Madras High Court today ordered the revocation of suspension of employees of JIPMER even as the Centre informed the court that it could decide the legality of the autonomous status for it once Parliament enacts the appropriate legislation.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Mr Justice K Chandru passed the interim order on the Public Interest Litigations, filed by AIADMK Pondicherry Unit Secretary and MLA A Anbalagan, seeking to restrain the Centre from proceeding any further in changing the character of administration of JIPMER from the position of being a government organisation to that of an autonomous body, and Devadasan, seeking to restrain the JIPMER Struggle Committee from preventing the willing workers to attend work.
In its order, the Bench said it was brought to the notice of the court the necessity to keep the hospital functioning in public interest and in the light of the sick patients,who have been denied medical relief.
