Haryana launches Drug Abuse Prevention Progamme in schools

Chandigarh, Sep 29 (UNI) The Haryana government today launched 'Drug Abuse Prevention Progamme' in the state in collaboration with Bhartiya Gramin Mahila Sangh and Education department so as to save the youth from the abuse of drugs.

At the launch of the programme, Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said that during the ancient days schools used to impart education to promote indian cultural and civilisation and the students were now using the drugs and it was a matter of concerned for the society.

The Minister said that Haryana was the first state in the country which had decided to introduce drug abuse prevention programme in a accelerate pace.

He sought the coopration of the media persons for the sucess of this programme. He clarified that no evil could be eradicate from the society without the unstinted coporation of the people.

He stressed the need to opt for yoga in their life.

Mr Mullana said the semester system had been intorduced in the state besides education would be imparted through EDUSET.

He informed that during the first semester exams, only 18 cases of using unfair means in exams were detected.

The Minister sought thecoporation of the teachers to implement the programme in a true spirit so that the young generation could be saved from the drug abuse.
