Family donates heirlooms to Dharohar museum
Kurukshetra, Sep 29 (UNI) A family of Kirmich village has donated its 10-generation-old heirlooms, including pots, vessels and apparels to Kurukshetra University's Dharohar museum.
The family of Bal Krishan of Kirmich village about 7 km from here, had been taking a great care of pots including a 15 ltr copper water container, a metal treasure-box for keeping lady's ornaments, one exquisite long skirt embellished with gold and silver wires, and another dress, for over 10 generations as a legacy of their rich past.
However, Mr Krishan, after a visit to the Dharohar museum, decided to donate this family treasure for proper upkeep and display alongside many such exhibits depicting the richness of the state's past culture, a university spokesman said.
The addition of these heirlooms has enhanced the cultural richness of KU's Dharohar museum, which was set up last year to preserve the region's traditional treasures, he said.
