Battalion moves to Chhatisgarh
Aizawl, Sep 29 (UNI) As per the Centre's instruction, about 777 policemen from Mizoram 2nd Indian Reserved Police Force have been sent to Chhattisgarh today to fight naxalites.
The police personnel had undergone a month-long training at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School in Vairengte for preparations to fight the Naxals and Maoist forces in Chhattisgarh.
Last week, an advance party of the battalion consisting of 75 personnel had left the state to prepare ground work and logistics in Chhattisgarh.
Using 38 heavy and five light vehicles, the battalion will reach Guwahati tomorrow from where they will proceed towards Chhattisgarh by a special train. The 2nd Mizoram IR battalion will be deployed in Tantewada district near Orissa.
The 777 personnel of the 2nd IR battalion consists of their commandant P C Lalchhuanawma, deputy commandant Lalnunmawia and seven assistant commandants while under them are six inspectors, 20 sub-inspectors, 145 havildars, 445 constables, one medical officer, two nurses, one nursing constable, 35 radio personnel, one lab technician, two pharmacists, 45 drivers, two mechanics, two Ministerial staff and nine rade four employees.
