AP Govt orders CBI probe into sale of lands
Hyderabad, Sep 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government today ordered a CBI inquiry into allotment of land on August 9, 2003 to IMG Bharat, a private firm, by the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government for a meagre price.
Briefing the press after the cabinet meeting here, State Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir said the state government had cancelled the allotment of 400 acres of land at Gachibowli sports complex and 450 acres of land at Mamidipally to IMG Bharat and ordered a CBI inquiry into it.
Stating the deal as illegal, the Minister said the IMG Bharat had not taken any developmental activities so far in the land for the development of sports.
He said the land was sold to the company in a non-trasparent manner at a low price of Rs 50,000 per acre at Gachibowli and Rs 25,000 per acre at Mamidipally.
Mr Shabbir said the cabinet also approved to promulgate an ordinance called Andhra Pradesh Government Property (Preservation, Protection and Resumption) Ordinance,2006 to preserve the government property.
