Activists of Peoples Conference arrested in Srinagar
Srinagar, Sep 29 (UNI) About 20 activists of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (Sajjad) were arrested at Regal Chowk near here when they were protesting against Delhi's courts order to hang Mohammad Afzal Guru, prime accused in the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack case, in Tihar jail on October 20.
The Peoples Conference (PC) activists took out a procession from historic Lal Chowk demanding the release of Guru. However, after marching through different streets, the processionists were stopped by the police at Regal Chowk.
Police resorted to baton charge after the processionists refused to disperse. Later, about 20 of them were taken into custody and lodged in the Kothibagh police station.
