Woman offers her tongue at temple

Jabalpur, Sep 28 (UNI) A woman slashed a part of her tongue and offered it at the Sharda Devi temple on Siddh Nagar hill in this district, police said today.

After her 'mannat (wish)' was fulfilled, 51-year-old Shakun Choudhary placed a part of her tongue at the feet of the Goddess and performed worship for about four hours.

Later, she returned to her home along with her family members.

Shakun had sought a 'mannat' that she would offer her tongue if her younger daughter Sunita, who had become insane at the age of 12 was cured.

A crowd gathered in the temple after the incident and police were deployed to control it.

Police said the woman had refused to undergo treatment.
