Washington, Sep 28 (UNI) Democratic Congressman Frank Pallone is confident that the US-India non-military nuclear agreement, which was recently passed by the House of Representatives, will most likely be approved by the Senate for which no date has yet been fixed.

During his speech, at a gathering of Indian-Americans in California recently, his attention was drawn to the letter that President George W Bush had written to every senator urging them to support the agreement.

''Well, it's about time. He didn't do much in the beginning to promote (the agreement) and finally he got involved. It's important that he do that,'' Mr Pallone said.

Mr Pallone said he was very concerned that Pakistan was not doing enough to deal with terrorism, adding that he had little faith in the recent treaty signed between the Pakistani government and members of the Taliban Council in North Waziristan.

''Although India faces nuclear threats and insurrections, I think that we're moving more and more in the direction where India becomes a superpower, essentially,'' Mr Pallone asserted.
