UP malaria toll reaches 95
Mainpuri, Sep 28 (UNI) Malaria has claimed eight more lives in the past 48 hours in the district taking the toll to 95 so far.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) K N Gupta said here today the fresh casualties had occurred in Sultanganj Block.
A 13-member anti-infectious disease team has been constituted to deal with the menace.
''The administration is serious over the issue and all efforts are being made to provide succour to the affected people,'' he added.
Meanwhile, the toll of another vector-borne disease, Japanese Encephalitis (JE), contined to mount in eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Till yesterday, 184 children had already died of JE, while scores of others were still undergoing treatment in Gorakhpur.
