UDF president and vice-president resigned

Kottayam, Sep 28 (UNI) Mr Thomas Kunnappally and Ms Sudha Kurian president and vice-president respectively of the Kottayam District Panchayat resigned from the posts today.

They resigned following the by-election debacle. In the 23-member Council, the UDF had 11 and the LDF 12.

Since both the president and vice-president had resigned the development standing committee chairperson Moly Peter would hold the charge of the president till the election of the new president.

Later, talking to newsmen Mr Thomas Kunnappally and Sudha Kurian alleged that the LDF won the Kangazha division through malpractices and the UDF would challenge the election.
