Two held for suspected Kerosene adulteration in Beed

Beed, Maharashtra, Sep 28 (UNI) The rural police here arrested two persons including a trader in connection with suspected adulteration of kerosene and seized 25 barrels of kerosene and 15 barrels of naphta and other chemicals from his godown during a raid they carried out late last evening at Pimperkhed in this district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) Jaswant Tambhare told UNI that acting on a tip-off, the police team raided the godown and shop owned by a trader Kantilal Chunodiya at Pimparkhed village and seized the illegal storage of kerosene, meant for public distribution as well as naptha and other chemicals.

The police suspects that the trader was engaged in adulteration of kerosene with naphta and some other chemicals to convert it into diesel.

The police arrested Kantilal and his aide in this connection and they have been booked under Essential Commodities Act, Mr Tambade informed.
