Southwest monsoon subdues in most parts of country

Pune, Sep 28 (UNI) The southwest monsoon has been subdued over Aunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa states, Chattisgarh, Telangana, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of west Uttar Pradesh and of east Rajasthan and were above normal in some parts of Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and northwest Rajasthan and were normal over Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir from where the south west monsoon has been withdrawn.

Heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Andman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Orissa and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Chattisgarh, Konkan and Goa, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Mahya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tami Nadu and interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himahal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Saurashtra and Kutch and Marathwada.
