Railway earnings up 19.24 per cent
New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Sustaining its growth momentum, the Railways earned Rs 1592.50 crore during September 11-20 this year as compared to Rs 1335.59 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 19.24 per cent.
The total goods earnings went up to Rs 1052.50 crore from Rs 861.56 crore during this period last year, an increase of 22.16 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings were pegged at Rs 476.98 crore compared to Rs 431.30 crore during the same period last year.
The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 43.36 crore to Rs 29.42 crore during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 47.38 per cent.
The total number of passengers booked were 183.90 million compared to 168.95 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 8.85 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 107.85 million and 76.05 million compared to 100.32 million and 68.63 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.51 per cent and 10.81 per cent respectively.
