Pakistan to import 302 more items from India

Islamabad, Sep 28 (UNI) The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC), headed by Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has allowed the import of 302 more items from India.

The Nation newspaper today quoted Economic Advisor to Finance Ministry Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan as saying that the major items to be imported from India are various categories of machinery, equipment, steel, iron ore, raw materials and different types of chemicals.

He said that the government had already allowed import of 773 tariff lines (items) from neighbouring India and 302 items had been included in the list.

Dr Khan said that the names of the items would be notified shortly adding that the federal government had allowed import tariff lines from India after consulting all stakeholders in the country.

He said that at present the country was importing steel and iron ore from Australia, but now it could be imported from India.

Mr Khan also said that textile sector could take benefit by importing dyeing machinery from India.
