Over 100 policemen injured by agitators in the capital
Dhaka, Sep 28 (UNI) More than hundred policemen were injured and power supply offices ransacked as thousands of agitators stage a violent demonstration in uptown Mirpur to protest against the shortage of electricity here today.
Witnesses said thousands of people, angered by frequent power load shedding since last night, attacked the power complaint centre and set it on fire.
The agitators also torched two pickup vans and a motorcycle of a police officer.
The demonstrators blocked roads from Mirpur to Agargaon disrupting traffic movement in the area.
Public agitation against the short supply of electricity also took place at Shanir Akhra and Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital. The protestors blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong highway disrupting the road communication between the capital and port city of Chittagong.
