Shillong, Sep 28 (UNI) Meghalaya police have arrested two senior ultras belonging to the outlawed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) of Manipur and busted its finance wing hide-out here.

The two militants, Manoj Singh and Prasanjit Singh, were arrested from Meghalaya Urban Development Authority shopping complex here, yesterday.

However, police said two of the arrested accomplices managed to escape, adding that a manhunt is on to nab them.

East Khasi Hills District Superintendent of Police A R Mawthoh told UNI here today that the arrest has also helped the police to bust the UNLF's finance wing hide-out near Mizoram House.

''We have also seized three bags of incriminating documents from the hideout,'' Mr Mawthoh said. However, the police did not recover any arms or ammunitions from their possession.

He added that the outfit has been operating from Shillong for the past four years.
