Meghalaya deploys addtional security force for Durga Puja

Shillong, Sep 28 (UNI) The Meghalaya government deployed three additional companies of CRPF to ensure peaceful celebration of four-day Durga Puja which began today.

Recently Union Home Secretary V K Duggal in a letter to East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner cautioned of possible terrorists' attacks by Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) on soft targets including places of worship and vital economic sites.

Some 59 Durga Puja are being organsied in Shillong.

Today, all puja pandals preformed the customary "Sasthi Puja" with religious zeal.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister J D Rymbai scheduled visit to famous Nartiang Durga temple in Jaintia Hills on October 2.
