Mah Govt sets up price rise control committee

Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) The Maharashtra Government has set up a committee headed by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to control the price rise in essential commodities.

Apart from the Chief Minister, the committee comprises Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sunil Tatkare, Marketing Minister Harshvardhan Patil, Chief Secretary Dr D K Shankaran, Director General of Police Dr P S Pasricha, Principal Secretary of the Marketing department, Food and Civil Supplies, Transport Commissioner, Food Corporation of India, food grains and vegetable traders organisations and oil sector representatives.

The Committee will get inputs from different machineries of the government and will discuss means and methods to control price rise.

It will meet every three months and review the price rise.

Similarly committees have also been set up at district level, which will be headed by the Superintendent of Police, Additional District Collector, food grains, vegetables and essential commodities traders. This committee will meet every month.
