New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) The acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Vijender Jain, heading a bench, today heard the matter pertaining to an elite school, established by bureaucrats, where his grand daughter studies.

As soon as the matter came up for hearing, Justice Jain pointed out that his grand daughter was studying in the school, and if there was any objection, the matter would be transferred to another court.

Solicitor General G E Vahanvati, appearing for the government on the issue of sanctioning of a privileged grant of Rs 3.5 crore to the school, submitted there was no objection from the government if the matter was decided by the bench.

The government had taken the matter so seriously that it felt it prudent to direct the Solicitor General of India to put forth its view.

The Court then asked the management of the Sanskriti School to furnish the procedure of admission of the students and grants received since its inception.

The Bench comprising Justice Jain and Justice Kailash Gambhir observed, ''The government gives liberal grants to the school as the children of the bureaucrats are studying in it.'' Millions of children in the country were being neglected and did not have schools in their villages whereas one elite school had been given liberal grants, said the court.

The court was hearing the matter pertaining to sanction of Rs 3.5 crore to the privately-managed Sanskriti school established by the Civil Services Society, registered by the wives of top rank government officials.
