Inzamam banned for four one-day matches
LONDON, Sep 28 (Reuters) Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was banned for four one-day matches today for bringing cricket into disrepute, International Cricket Council spokesman Biran Murgatroyd said today.
The Pakistan team were deemed to have forfeited the fourth and final test against England at The Oval last month when they refused to take the field after tea on the fourth day.
Their protest followed a decision by umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove to change the ball and penalise Pakistan five runs for alleged ball tampering.
Murgatroyd told reporters Inzamam had been cleared of ball tampering.
