IIIT to organise SAARC meet on IT in November
Allahabad, Sept 28: The Institute of Information Technology here will organise a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meet on ''Information Technology; Area of Strategic Collaborations.'' The international meet will be held in the last week of November in New Delhi and is expected to be attended by eminent IT experts and scientists from the country and also from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal.
''We got official confirmation from the Union Ministry of Science and Technology for holding special meet on IT for delegates, including scientists and IT experts from SAARC countries,'' Director, IIIT, Dr Murali Dhar Tiwari said.
It may be mentioned the union ministry is making efforts to exchange technical expertise and resource among SAARC countries, who have already sought technical help in evolution of their IT intrastructure.
The seminar-cum-workshop is expected to be a confluence of IT experts and professionals from the various SAARC countries. The aim of the seminar is to identify areas of cooperation in information technology. Some of the major issues that are likely to be taken up in the meet include nanotechnology, ubiquitous computing, artificial intelligence.
Dr Tiwari said a core group of experts would prepare a draft on the strategy to be adopted for further cooperation in the field of information technology and communication.
He said representatives of the International Development Researh Centre, Canada will also participate in the meet.
