Hyundai rolls out Verna in city

Kochi, Sep 28 (UNI) Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the second largest car manufacturer in the country today rolled out 'Verna,' a new car to strengthen its product line in the mid-size car segment here.

Addressing mediapersons, HMIL senior General Manager Y J Yahn said the car, positioned in the upper segment, had the best in international styling luxurious interiors and high-end safety measures.

He said the launch was to rope in the benefits of a vertical split in the segement and the company had a sales target of 3,000 units per month.

Verna would be Hyundai's second car in the mid-size segment after Accent.

Mr Yahn said to consolidate the small-car segment alongwith Santro, HMIL was planning to launch a new car in this segment by early 2008.

The petrol and diesel variants of Verna would have maximum power than any other cars in the segment, he claimed.

Regional Sales Manager Ramachandran said while the petrol variant of Verna was priced between 6.21 lakh and 6.36 lakh, the diesel variant would cost only Rs 7.35 lakh.

Manufactured at the Chennai plant, Verna would be sold across the country through its distribution network, he said.
