Homeguard cops deposit their firearms

Patna, Sep 28 (UNI) Over 4,000 Homeguard jawans have deposited their service firearms to protest the failure of the Bihar government to regularise their jobs.

Secretary of the coordination committee of the homeguards association Sudeshwar Prasad Singh said here that the agitation was sucessful on the second day of the Jail Bharo Abhiyan today.

He said the rifles and cartridges were deposited in different districts but the concerned authorities in Saharsa, Madhepura, Muzaffarpur and Araria were creating obstructions in the process of surrendering of firearms.

Mr Singh accused that the state government was working against their interests as homeguard jawans were not being given priority in recruitment of constables. Instead of giving chance to them the government was recuriting new cops.
