Govt jobs provided to 1,300 persons

Agartala, Sept 28: Tripura government has till now provided government jobs to 1,300 people whose familes had been affected due to insurgency a few years back, official sources said here today.

State Revenue Minister Keshab Majumder said those families who had lost their members or were badly affected due to insurgency, had been given government jobs to each member of the family.

This year fifty people had been given jobs from the waiting lists and the state government had received more 105 applications from the affected families till September 9 from which 34 people were given the jobs.

Moreover, the state government had distributed financial help of about Rs 17,30,000 to the 14 affected families within an amount of Rs 1,25,000 per family.

The district magistrates of four districts are examining the remaining applications of the 29 families in waiting list.

After completion of the process the state government would take necessary steps to provide employement or financial help to the families, sources said quoting the minister.

The minister also appealed to the families, who left their native villages due to insurgency, to return back home.

A large number of families from the interior insurgency-affected areas in the state had abandoned their homes fearing insurgent attacks and took shelter in other parts of the state.
