Govt decides to permit private investors in hydel projects
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (UNI) The government in principle has decided to permit private investors to start hydel projects in Kerala, Electricity Minister A K Balan informed the State Assembly today.
In a written reply to Prof K V Thomas (Congress), he said a guideline, permitting the Electricity Board to allow private investors to start hydel projects, had been issued by the government.
Mr Balan said as per the revised Electricity Act 2003, the Regulatory Commission had the right to allow private participation in any sectors.
However, the government had no intention to allow private participation in the distribution sector, he added.
